FAQ: Working With Our Studio

What’s the benefit of working with a boutique studio?

Investing in a boutique experience gives you the opportunity to choose a photographer who is aligned with your own creative sensibilities. Your portrait experience will be a highly personalized, one-on-one collaboration with the photographer.

What types of products can I order?

Our boutique product line is made up of the highest quality art pieces, art albums and prints available. All prints, products and digital folios are sold separately after viewing your proofs in the studio. There is no minimum spend requirement, so you can purchase only what you love.

Do you sell digital image files?

Yes, digital folios are available. Most clients leave the studio with a customized portrait collection including: (1) at least one heirloom art piece from our boutique product line and (2) a digital folio.

When will I see my portraits?

Approximately two weeks after your session, your portraits will be fully edited and ready to view. We will contact you to schedule an in-person Viewing/Ordering Appointment where your portraits will be revealed, and you may place your custom purchase order. We believe strongly in the value of printed portraits, and therefore do not offer digital proofing or ordering.

Can I give a session as a gift?

Yes! Gift certificates can be used for the session fee or to purchase prints and products. These are available in any amount. A Newborn, Maternity or Milestone photography session makes a priceless gift for a baby shower or new mother.

When is the next mini session?

Be the first to know! Some mini session specials are offered exclusively to newsletter subscribers, and subscribers always recieve first notice to snag limited-offer mini session spots. Join our newsletter to receive advance notice and priority scheduling for the next Mini Session.

Do you have a referral reward program?

Yes! We love to reward referrals. Anyone who reserves a portrait session and mentions your name as their referral earns you a $25 credit towards your order of prints and products, or a future session. There is no limit to the amount of credits you can receive.

FAQ: MATERNITY SESSIONS

When should I take maternity portraits?

We always encourage moms-to-be to plan their maternity portrait session right around eight to 8.5 months or between 32 to 34 weeks of pregnancy. Of course, you can have gorgeous portraits taken right up to the day you deliver, but there are a few things you might want to consider when deciding when to schedule. Read more here.

When is the best time to contact you to schedule my maternity session?

We recommend contacting the studio to reserve your Maternity session as soon as you're ready to ensure availability, especially since maternity sessions are time sensitive. Aim to have your session reserved by the start of your third trimester at 28 weeks (or a few weeks earlier for twins).

Where does the maternity session take place?

Sunset Maternity sessions take place in the Austin hill country. We also offer stunning sessions in the studio, or we're happy to help you plan a shoot in a special location.

Do you offer a package for maternity and newborn?

Yes, clients save $100 on the session fees when you reserve both Maternity and Newborn sessions together.

Can I plan my maternity session in another location?

We would love to help you plan your session in a special location. Ask about some of our favorite venues around town, and we will be happy to help guide you to a stunning location for your maternity portraits.

FAQ: NEWBORN SESSIONS

When is the best time to contact you to schedule my newborn session?

For Newborn portraits, be sure to contact the studio during your pregnancy. We recommend reserving your session before you reach 30 weeks to ensure availability. We limit our schedule to only one newborn each day to allow as much time as necessary to photograph each new baby; however, we will try to accommodate you at any stage during your pregnancy. Please don’t wait until your baby is here to schedule your session! Newborn Sessions occur during the first two weeks of your baby’s arrival. During your pregnancy, we will reserve a tentative session date based on your due date. After you deliver, please reach out to us as soon as possible to let us know that your little one has arrived, and we will finalize your session date for the first available opening within the first 14 days.

Why do we need to photograph the baby so soon?

For the style of portraits that we offer, it is always best to photograph your baby within the first 14 days so that they stay in that adorable curled position and stay asleep for as long as possible. After the first 14 days, newborns will begin to stretch out their legs and come out of that womb-like position, they begin to get much stronger, and they will sleep less. In those early days, they’re much more limber, allowing for adorable poses that you find in the newborn portfolio.

Where does the newborn session take place?

Newborn Sessions take place in our cozy natural light studio in central Austin.

Will you come to my home for the newborn session?

Sessions are held exclusively in the studio. For the styled portraits offered, shooting in a professional photography studio guarantees a dependable and consistent light source in a controlled environment. Reducing the number of variables affecting the session allows us to create a consistently higher quality product without concern for the particulars of the available light and space in every client’s home.

Do you offer maternity portraits?

Yes! We offer Sunset Maternity sessions in the Austin hill country and natural, organic maternity portraits in the studio. Newborn clients receive $100 off the Maternity Session fee when you reserve both sessions.

Do you offer personalized birth announcements?

Yes, personalized birth announcements are available. These can typically be delivered within one week after your reveal session.
